Conversations with those who are new to an area are often very useful, as they force you to explain things clearly and think through your ideas anew. Coming up with fresh and vivid analogies is an important part of explaining an idea, which I try to do as often as possible. One time this arose was when a PhD student from the University of Strathclyde interviewed me about offshore wind farm decommissioning. I realised that a wind farm owner with an older wind farm faces issues that are quite familiar to those of us with an old piece of furniture in our house! If you're intrigued to see how far I can stretch this analogy (and what it means for building a simulation-based decision support tool), then please follow this link to read the full article: https://home/whd0219/domains/uwise.tno.nl/public_html.linkedin.com/pulse/end-life-decision-making-offshore-wind-farms-analogy-stock-williams/
